Final Art for 75th Anniversary of "The Yearling"
I am definitely proud of my recent work for the Marjorie Rawling's Foundation and will go as far to say that I think this is some of my best work to date. It's also the first work I can say that working digital was actually a better way to go then traditional. The line work is smoother and the detail and color seems more crisp.
Still...I love working in the old ways. :-)
Enjoy!

Guess "who"?
This marks my first piece of fan art for the series and I did the whole thing in little under 6 hours. I'm also proud to say this is another bit of digital art using nothing but my Cintiq 21UX all by itself! I love that thing!
Hope you enjoy, post your thoughts if you like! I'd love to hear some feedback!

IT'S HERE!!!
Released today! The next volume in the Flagler's Few series, Lost Souls of Savannah, is officially out and available via your favorite retailer, including Amazon! Purchase your copy here.
In this edition, the focus is on the origin story of Victor, and how the helpful spirit from The Reaper of St. George Street, came to be. Set in the majestic city of Savannah, Georgia in the midst of the depression, Lost Souls of Savannah is jam packed with history, mystery and folklore! Unlike it's predecessor, many of the ghosts are familiar tales to the city of Savannah, and the subject of many of my spooky stories during my ghost tour guiding days!
Introducing inker, Ryan English, who puts his special touch to my illustrations, I think it will be safe to say you will love this book with every ounce of your very soul!

Recent Commission Artwork!
The first is a piece of fan art for my old High School friend, Stephanie. Her cousin is a huge fan of the old Disney's Robin Hood, so I did a Wanted Poster for her upcoming birthday!
The next one is a quick 2-hour illustration from start to finish. My friend Sabrina is a big Pokemon fan, and I never ever drew a Pokemon in my life, but I will admit, it was a lot of fun!
The final one is a cover concept for Trevor Cooley's "Bowl of Souls" Fantasy Novel series. Trevor wanted some more detail done to the rendering, so I call this an "Under Construction" piece. The final will be released soon for your viewing pleasure!

Dungeon Defenders: My take on the Aquanos cut scene
When I moved back to my hometown of Gainesville, Florida, I thought I'd be leaving the Sequential Art-rich world that was Savannah, Georgia behind. Imagine my very pleasant surprise to discovery that there was something even "trendier" waiting for me back at home.
Trendy Entertainment, the video game company that brings us "Dungeon Defenders" had apparently opened up shop in my hometown during my absence, and I was very lucky to befriend some of their top artists like Danny Araya, Jordan Kerbow and fellow SCAD Sequential Art alumni and Trendy Art Director, Ben Greene.
Thanks to Ben, I was given the approval to do a little test art based off one of the levels in their expansion pack, Dungeon Defenders: The Lost Eternia Shards. The original cinematic illustrations were done by Danny Araya, and are the set-up for the Aquanos level.
This is the first time I have EVER, EVER, EVER done digital illustration work. By so, I mean using souly the computer and my Cintiq 21UX to fully illustrate and render. Hope I did a good job.
Enjoy!

SCHOOLS OUT!
So school is out, and so ends the Spring semester run of The Independent Florida Alligator! But threat not! Allie, Herrinson and Skunkman return for the summer semesters in a two-day-a-week comic strip series posted in the newspaper!
Until then, enjoy this EXCLUSIVE, FULL-COLOR strip guest starring the amazingly, awesome Japanese punk band, Peelander-Z! I got a chance to catch their show at Double-Downs in downtown Gainesville last weekend! They have a great interactive show and at the end of it all, I scored a free comic book from them! They signed it andI just couldn't help but giving my own tribute to the coolest action hero band ever!
Check out their music! It's sweet!

Lost Souls of Savannah (revised cover)
Below is an image of the revised Lost Souls of Savannah cover. The original cover design (seen on the Amazon listing for the book) I did in sort of a rush for the publisher. It depicted a more Hoodoo-themed illustration, but my editor at Pineapple Press had requested something a bit more Savannah related. This is what I came up with, and I have to say, I think she was right to have me go back and do it again. I like this one much better.
In this wrap cover (not yet colored) we see Victor seranading the ghosts of Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. In particular, little Gracie Watson. Gracie Watson is one of the staple ghost stories in Savannah. She's also the first ghost story I would tell my tourists back in my ghost tour guiding days. While the story itself is a sad, but sweet one, the actual statue at her grave is rather creepy.
I'll post the color one soon!

Taekwon Tales!
Back in August, I was hired on to work on Esmeralda Kim's first book in her Taekwon Tale series. The series focuses on entertaining and educating children on the martial arts as well as cooperation, self confidence and all the other good wholesome stuff you want your kids to read about. The artwork isn't bad either. ;-)
They'll have their own website up and running soon, until then, go ahead and check it out on Amazon. Just click here!

Book Signing Party!
Tomorrow marks my first book signing party for The Reaper of St. George Street. It's being held at the Sequential Art Workshop (18 SE 5th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida). Hoping it turns out to be a good event. I'll be selling copies of my book and as well as hopefully selling some copies of Azteca and maybe even Here Comes Julie Jack!
If you're in town, you should definitely try and stop by and make it. There will be music, some drinks and plenty of my books for sale! :-)

Latest works
So I haven't updated as much this month, but that is because I've been slammed with new gigs and work. Included in this post are three separate recent pieces from three separate gigs:
This first one is for Wild Onion Press's "A Dino in Dill's Room". This marks Wild Onion Press's first child-age graphic novel. Very excited to be working with them on this. This next one is a t-shirt design I did for teefury.com. I submitted it for review and I'm still waiting on hearing back. I did this over the weekend while attending MegaCon in Orlando.
This final one is for "Drenched Chocolate", a chocolate company opening up in Gainesville this April. This chart is a sample of the different options people can have for their chocolate fountains at parties and events.

Son of a Gator's Valentine's Day Contest!
This upcoming week is Valentine's Day! And to celebrate this superficial holiday, I decided to hold a little contest...
Through my comic strip, Son of a Gator, which runs exclusively through The Independent Florida Alligator, I invited students (specifically female) to "like" the Son of a Gator Facebook page. If they post "Happy Valentine's Day, Allie!" on the wall, they'll be entered into a random drawing. The winner who gets drawn from the hat will in turn be drawn into the comic as Allie's Valentine's Day Date!
It's a great way to have some interactive fun with my readers (and score some more female followers on the strip. :-P)
